First Aid Training

I’d like to say a huge Thank You to Richard for running a First Aid Training session at our last Club Meeting. First Aid is a life skill that could literally save someones life. As model flyers we are generally out of public sight and only have our fellow flyers to call upon in an emergency, whilst the most likely injury may be badly cut fingers from a spinning propeller, there are so many other things that could happen.

Richard’s training session included, amongst other things, information about bleeding, puncture wounds, choking, and heart attacks. Those present had an opportunity to practice CPR on ‘Annie’ the CPR training doll. Richard also gave a demonstration of how to use a defibrillator, these are located in many public places, perhaps you could find out where the closest one is to your home ? These clever machines give full verbal instruction on their use and will not operate to shock the patient if not actually required.

Remember, the purpose of First Aid is to Preserve life, Prevent harm, and Promote recovery. Whilst doing this it is important to keep yourself safe and don’t put yourself in any danger.

Where any serious injury or event occurs it is essential to call the Emergency Services as soon as possible.
